CrossCom invests in ExtraFax™ to Improve Document Management
Deerfield, ILLINOIS (March 25, 2008)
CrossCom National, LLC. is expanding its document management capability, using bar code recognition through ExtraFax™ software by Extracomm, Inc. Winner of the 2006 Lotus Advisor Communication Award, ExtraFax™ is a 100% native Lotus Domino faxing solution, allowing customers working with Lotus Notes/Domino to integrate fax communications and e-mail into a seamless and cost effective process.
CrossCom has been using bar coding technology for over 2 decades in asset management and inventory tracking. Expanding the bar coding technology beyond assets into document management will improve the tracking and routing of information both within the company and to external customers. All outgoing documentation will have a bar code attached to it. When a coded document is returned either via fax or e-mail, the software will read the bar code and direct the paperwork to the correct system and person. Though not a new technology, bar coding functionality applied to document management is a further step toward reducing paper, improving quality and advancing the communication process.
“One of the benefits of ExtraFax™ is its ability to route documents based on bar codes, which provides our customers with a fast and efficient document delivery process, “ states Alex Chan, Senior Developer for Extracomm, Inc. “ExtraFax™ is able to generate and read QR Code and can recognize 3 of 9 barcodes, which are your standard bar codes that you see on product packaging.”
Extracomm, Inc. has plans to develop a 3 of 9 barcode generator to compliment the existing QR code generator. They expect to have this available as part of their next major release this year.
