History

The Foundation

Originally founded in 1981 as Cross Communications, the company began installing and servicing telephone systems in the Chicago area for local businesses. In 1985, CrossCom National was awarded the opportunity to replace phone systems in 1,500 Walgreens stores across the country over a three- month period. The opportunity served to define the company's retail niche and the field labor model through which services are delivered. Over the course of the next 10 years, CrossCom National substantially grew its retail customer base, solidifying the company's position in the retail market. CrossCom National began to build the expertise that would allow the company to become the total in-store solution for retailers.

Expansion of Products and Services

Responding to the needs of the retail community, CrossCom National began to expand its capabilities to provide more cost-effective and efficient solutions for its customers. In 1998 the company launched CrossInform, its Web-based project management and customer information portal, allowing customers real-time access to order status and site information. In 1999, CrossCom National launched its voice repair business, providing lower-cost voice products for service and extending the life of those products for the retail customer. CrossCom National also expanded its field capabilities into data, POS, and wireless services. By 2000, CrossCom National was effectively growing in product and service offerings for the retail community.

Growth by Acquisition

In 2001, Greg Miller accepted the President/CEO position and began to expand the executive team to accelerate growth through acquisitions. In 2003, CrossCom National acquired Integrated Rollout Solutions, a leading provider of nationwide rollout solutions for retailers, resulting in a flexible project model that combines a national field service network with a mobile work force. In 2004, Goense Bounds & Partners, a private equity firm currently managing a $225 million fund, partnered with CrossCom National to fund continued rapid growth. In addition, CrossCom National acquired Image Technology Solutions, a nationwide provider of POS and data systems total refurbishment services.

CrossCom National continues to look for opportunities to enhance the company's capabilities as the single-source provider of comprehensive in-store technology solutions for retailers.
